Welcome to the summer edition of PROGRAM Online!
This issue includes interviews with a number of prominent sonographers and physicians, two veterinary features, introductions to new CIVCO team members, and a discussion of the future of ultrasound guidance in regional anesthesia. In short – PROGRAM Online is the perfect excuse to stay inside and read rather than venture out into the heat and mugginess of summer!
Dr. Robert Raw of the University of Iowa, and Dr. Rajnish Gupta of Vanderbilt University, discuss many facets of ultrasound guided regional anesthesia (USGRA) in our feature article. As ultrasound guidance is relatively new to this field, needle guidance for regional anesthesia has been developing rapidly over the last few years. We were lucky enough to have conversations with sonographers Shannon Boswell, Bob DeJong, Terry DuBose and Pam Foy, and we have two new members of the CIVCO team to introduce to you. Leeann Haberman is our new Clinical Sales Manager, focusing on Florida and Georgia within the US, and Michael Christiansen is our new Director of European/Middle Eastern Sales. Leeann and Michael would be happy to hear from you.
Our usual OEM News, Business Buzz and Quick Releases features are all full of new information, and we have two “Wild Things” veterinary features this time. Researchers using ZONARE ultrasound systems have discovered a nearly ideal, though feathered, research model for human ovarian cancer. Plus, one CIVCO customer is using our transducer cover in an innovative – and wet – research project.
